Rockalypse Music Workshops: A Great Learning Resource for Emerging Musicians
December 28, 2021, Montreal

Canadian non-profit, Sincop8ed Noize Foundation, has wrapped up another successful edition of its Rockalypse Music Workshops. The organization has continued to produce these events virtually due to the pandemic, with the mission to support and educate emerging musicians on the music business. The events were free to attend thanks to the support from FACTOR Canada, ROLAND, and Long & McQuade Musical Instruments.
The workshops took place once a month, from June to December 2021. They covered the following topics: Indigenous music and industry in Canada today, women in music technology, budgeting 101, music publishing, and tips for social media. In addition, the workshops featured music industry Q&As with established Canadian artists: The Damn Truth, and Josh Trager, drummer of platinum-selling Sam Roberts Band.
Since shifting to an online format, the workshops have gained international reach, with attendees from all over the world, including parts of the United States, England, Germany, Turkey, Indonesia, South Africa, India and Ireland.
Each workshop was hosted by a Canadian music industry professional. The following industry speakers took part: Shaneen Robinson-Desjarlais, Marcela Rada, Shevaughn Battle, Katie Seline and Eric Alper.
The Foundation hopes to continue to deliver these events, free of cost, to musicians. Like many other arts organizations, Sincop8ed Noize, has been deeply impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, and will therefore organize a virtual fundraiser in 2022, in order to help sustain its activities, including the workshops, during this particularly difficult time.
Regardless of the challenges, Sincop8ed Noize Foundation was one of the recipients of the 2021 GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Award, an important community endorsement.
